The Eyes Have It

So two of our cats found themselves with mildly weepy eyes - nothing too unusual, especially for this time of year. Within a day, however, Momma's third eyelid was showing across a portion of the bottom of her eye.....and a day later was covering her ENTIRE eye.

We got her into the vet and tried some eyedrops, but took her back two days later when it had only gotten worse, and her face was further swollen on the one side. Apparently it wasn't an eye infection at all, but a bad tooth causing all the problems.

Around about the exact same time.....Gronk started having the very same symptoms in the very same eye! By the time we picked Momma up from having her tooth pulled, we were dropping him off to have some of HIS teeth pulled. Both had to spend two nights at the clinic and were not happy, but it had to be done.

Then there was the day Pennywise discovered the pillow of himself that Jane had made.....priceless.

First Momma....

....then Gronk!

Who is THIS handsome stranger?

Hmmmm....

It's OK, he's good peeps!

What To Do in '22

The New Year began with us still hunkered down as the Omicron variant continued to surge, having eschewed festive visits in favour of caution. The weather turned a little more wintery, though we were still green until late January, receiving our first permanent snowfall on January 23rd.

Outdoor walks became less frequent in the cold, though we did still find some sheltered spaces where we could perambulate free from prying winds, including down at the provincial park. We skipped the more scenic and shivery stretches along the shoreline, mind you.

We also started watching way too many van life videos on The Youtube, and started planning some temporary (and reversible) conversions to our own aged beast, whilst dreaming of longer term options and post-retirement road tripping. We also streamed a lot of shows on Crave, continuing the winter tradition of trying a new streaming service for a month or two whilst relatively housebound for winter, and then cancelling when we've had our fill.

The Walkerville Brewery "Beer Taxi" also made a deposit on our front porch, with an ample supply for the NFL playoffs, including one rather wild and arguably historic Divisional Weekend that featured all four games with thrilling last minute (or in one case, overtime) victories.

After many visits and much hard work by the four of us, the house in Tillsonburg was also finally ready to go on the market.

It's the Start of another New Year - better call the newspaper up!
