Grey Roots

As an excuse to meet some good friends "in the middle", we met Keith and Ashley in Grey County for some fall fun. It was also an opportunity for Jane to take a stroll down Memory Lane, returning to her hometown (Owen Sound) for the first time in a long while. Plus, we were looking for some fall colours, as we don't get a lot of good foliage down our way.

After a pleasant drive up the Lake Huron shoreline, we visited the Farmer's Market downtown, before heading out for a hike into Indian Falls. We took the "low road" and followed the river up to the base of the falls, all slippery rocks in the light rain, rather than taking the easier path along the top.

Back in the dry Bronco, we toured the town in general and visited some of Jane's old haunts, including the home she grew up in. We walked around Harrison Park and had a nice meal there, before heading further up to enjoy Inglis Falls from above.

After a pleasant evening hanging out and catching up at the Nights Inn, we set out the next morning to explore nearby Jones Falls at the Pottawatomi Conservation Area. It was another nice hike down through roots and rocky clefts to reach the base of the falls.

Heading back on Sunday after a wonderful visit, we hit Grandma Lambe's outside Chatsworth for some homemade pies, before stopping in London to pick up Dave on our way home for Thanksgiving Monday.
