The Vegas road trip is but two days away, and the excitement is growing. This evening we have started marshalling all of our trip crap in a cohesive pile in a corner. Just gotta get through two more days of pretending I care at work.....shouldn't say that - it is both month end and fiscal year end for me, and it's all gotta be done before I go!
Kevin arrived safe and sound from Ireland, after a very eventful trip. He was connecting through New York, and of course got stranded there on Friday night when they shut down all airports on the eastern seaboard due to bad weather. After some hairy moments in south Queens, and no luck finding any flights out, he hopped a bus for Toronto - a nice twelve hour Greyhound ride to finish the trip.
But it could not be that simple - they stopped to change drivers in Syracuse. Problem was, the new driver was not a driver at all, just a guy running from the cops who hopped in and drove off with a bus full of people when the real bus driver was getting a coffee. Other than a clear lack of bus driving skills, no harm was done - the guy eventually got lost and turned around on the interstate, drove all the way back to the bus depot in Syracuse, and then took off running....at least for a few seconds until the police tackled him.
So we picked Kevin up Sunday night at the bus terminal in downtown Toronto, rather than Friday night at the airport. He missed St. Patrick's Day (not much of a party in south Queen's apparently), but we did make up for it with wings and beer (umm, four pitchers worth) at Roosters on Monday. An to think, he came all that way just to care for our cats while we are gone....
Back to the packing....after forcing you to endure all of this boring text, the next posts you will see shall display vivid imagery of the scenic US midwest!
