Go Spits Go!

I made it out to my first OHL game of the young season, with the Windsor Spitfires hosting 401 rival the London Knights. The Knights had prevailed a few (k)nights earlier in London, so the Windsor squad was determined to hold their own back at home.

Jane tapped out after a knee setback, but likely Other Mike was available on short notice! The game was a great excuse to catch up over some quality hockey.

Windsor goalie Michael DiPietro earned the game's first star and the 16th shutout of his OHL career, tying the league record. With a full season to go, he should easily eclipse the record. He was clearly the difference in this otherwise closely contested match, including closing the door on a late 6-on-4 London power play.

The win put the Spits at 3-2 to open the season, off to a promising start in a tough division.....and hopefully just the first of many games taken in this year!

 Game on!
