Canada 150 Road Trip - Day 17

ALBERTA

Armed with the obligatory coffee, we found a nearby drive-through oil change place in Grand Prairie, and got the Juke some much-needed TLC before heading out of town. We followed Highway 43 east before it took a southeasterly diagonal towards Edmonton, anticipating a short travel day for once.

Replenishing our coffee and fuel, we soldiered on to hook up with the Yellowhead Highway and on into Edmonton, skirting north to by-pass most of the city and its nearly one million inhabitants. In the northeast corner lay our destination - the warm and welcoming home of SherryLynn and Andrew and family.

While my ailing back kept me stationary in a choice seat, our convivial hosts plied us with food, liquor, and hot and cold oat packs. Andrew's incredible cooking included delicious chili and garlic bread for lunch, and pork tenderloin with veggies for dinner. We sampled a number of craft beers from BC and the Yukon, while Jane dove headlong into the peach moonshine.

We watched some Outlander, followed by a scary movie.....during a particularly tense moment, AJ's girlfriend Alice came in unannounced through the front door, prompting a loud "OH F@CK OFF!!" from a rather startled Jane. Welcome home indeed.

After a great visit and much laughter, we toddled off to a comfy bed, and to my delight - a walk-in shower. Thanks for the hospitality!

Two roads diverged, on a Yellow Head.....

Welcome!
