Funny Money

We Canadians take a lot of ribbing about our colourful "monopoly money", mainly from our friends to the South. I guess that should actually be 'colorful' then.....

At any rate, we started gathering some local currencies for the upcoming trip. Before anyone goes getting all excited and breaks into our house to loot the place, bear in mind the exchange rate.

We still have to get some Romanian lei, at about 3:1 currency currently. For Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia, we may just hope either Euro or US dollars do the trick....or hit a local bank machine!

Cool money though, I especially like the stern faces of character and the artistic flair on some of them. Also excited that beer is ludicrously cheap compared to here - 35 CZK for a 500ml draft ($1.75) in Czech Republic, and 320 Forints ($1.40) in Hungary. That makes me Thirsty.

20 Euro - good most places in Europe, but not always...

500 Hungarian Forints - about $2.50 - apparently less than a haircut costs for mullets....

100 Czech Koruna - about $5 - aka 3 draft Pilseners!

500 Czech Koruna - about $25

Front side of same note, but with the "are you really going to buy THAT?" face

200 Czech Koruna - always watching, always judging

1000 Czech Koruna - $50 - aka 30 beers and many new Czech friends
