Wheatley in Limbo

So here we are, nearly a month after the explosion in our little village. Many homes and nearly all of the businesses have been evacuated and are not permitted to return, while various levels of government attempt to work out a solution.

We were not directly affected by the explosion itself, but have several friends who are, not to mention the utter ghost town that the village downtown has become in the aftermath - no post office, no bank, no pharmacy, no convenience store, no restaurants. Detours involving two major roadways, including a provincial highway. A lot of people's lives turned upside down.

Thankfully a lot of concerned residents have banded together to donate food, clothing, arrange accommodations and so forth - Wheatley Strong! Various village-led fundraisers have raised significant cash to help out those in need.....including, of course, a fish fry - with all fish donated by the local industry. What a wonderful community.
