Europe 2018 Day 6 - Mykonos

We skirted mainland Greece and forged eastward into the Aegean Sea. Our next destination was the Greek isle of Mykonos, also known as the Island of the Winds. Captain Mattias positioned the ship to provide lee shelter for tendering operations off the port side.

After tendering the short distance into the harbour at Mykonos town, we wheeled the rough stones as far as we could around the waterfront, until the narrow whitewashed alleys called for crutches. With no particular itinerary, we wandered aimlessly and had a great conversation about politics and economy with a local artisan.

After some exploration and shopping, the four of us found a great lunch spot on the waterfront to sample some local fare. Beyond the obligatory Greek salad and red wine, we also enjoyed some local calamari, saganaki, and the very rich Hercules sausage. The servers were excellent and entertaining as well!

Back aboard the Star, we enjoyed a Mykonos sunset with some drinks from our favoured spot on the deck 7 portside loungers, before retiring to the Irish Pub for some dinner.

Oh, and in other news - today Canada legalized cannabis. Everyone kept asking us about it.
